Nowadays, there are many kinds of dental scalers with powerful functions, but there are still many problems that trouble doctors: the choice of the tip of dental scaler, power and frequency, water supply type, etc. Here are some suggestions.

1. The choice of dental scaler tip

First, consider the material. Generally speaking, the hardness of material should not be greater than the hardness of tooth enamel. Second, consider the purpose. The proper dental scaler tip should be selected according to the requirements of the dental cleaner manufacturer, the different positions of the teeth and the different therapeutic purposes. The working angle of the dental scaler should be between 30 degrees and 70 degrees with the working face as the zero line. It should not work in the direction of the vertical working face; otherwise the working tip will be damaged or broken.

2. The choice of power and frequency

The highest frequency of dental scaler is at about 30000HZ. The higher operating frequency has no more benefit to the power output, but will bring unnecessary heat loss. The built-in power output is generally 10-15 watts, and the external power output is generally 40-50 watts. This does not mean that the power is larger, the teeth cleaning effect is better. Choosing the right working tip, working frequency (power) and using the right cleaning technique are the keys to the success of cleaning teeth. When choosing, please check whether the working tip is tightened and whether there is obvious wear on the working tip; if so, tighten the work tip or replace it with a new one. What’s more, check whether the connection of the handle is tight, and whether it leaks; if so, reconnect the handle. Again, check if the power regulator is in the correct position.

3. The choice of water supply type

There are three types of water supply for the dental scaler: water after filtration, separate pure water bottle and pressure bottle. The second and third way is the most popular.
