Bracket – An Essential Material For Orthodontics
Published on  Updated on

At present, the brackets sold by our company are mainly divided into dental metal brackets and dental ceramic brackets according to different materials.

Dental metal bracket

1. Ordinary dental metal bracket

Orthodontics with regular metal brackets is one of the most traditional and cheapest techniques. Dental metal brackets are the most commonly used brackets today. It has a smooth surface, is compact, durable, and is well-made to aid in the perfect alignment of the teeth; the unique rounding of the bracket edges reduces adverse irritation to the oral mucosa; and it is affordable.

2. Dental self-ligating bracket

Dental self-ligating bracket correction technology is a new one that has emerged in recent years. Compared with traditional orthodontic technology, dental self-ligating brackets have one more locking device than traditional brackets. In layman's terms, it is like adding a door to the bracket, which can directly lock the orthodontic wire in the groove of the dental bracket. It eliminates the binding of dental rubber band to the orthodontic steel wire, greatly reduces the frictional resistance between the dental arch wire and the dental bracket, reduces the force on the teeth, speeds up the movement of the teeth, and effectively shortens the entire treatment time.

Self-locking brackets have the following advantages:

(1) Shorten the treatment time.

(2) Extend the time interval for follow-up visits. The follow-up interval for traditional fixed orthodontics is about 4 weeks, while the follow-up interval for dental self-ligating brackets can be extended to 6 to 8 weeks.

(3) Exempt from tooth extraction. Due to the extremely low friction of the dental self-ligating brackets, the movement of the teeth is easier.

3. Dental lingual bracket

By bonding the dental brackets to the lingual surface of the teeth, they are completely invisible from the outside. They are not sharp and therefore are comfortable for the patient and do not affect the ability to speak.

Dental ceramic bracket

At present, dental ceramic brackets are divided into dovetail bottom ceramic brackets, mesh bottom ceramic brackets, monocrystal ceramic brackets, and ceramic self-ligating brackets. At present, the most used are the mesh bottom ceramic brackets. The brackets are flat on the bottom, silane-coated on the surface, and have small undercuts for added mechanical support.

Advantages of orthodontic ceramic brackets:

Aesthetics: Almost completely invisible. You will complete the orthodontic treatment without anyone noticing, and solve many patients' aesthetic concerns about straightening their teeth.

Comfortable: Since there are no orthodontic devices such as brackets and wires in the traditional sense, the orthodontic process is no longer painful. There are minimal discomfort and irritation to the periodontal tissue.

Convenience: It can be removed and worn by yourself, without affecting social interaction, eating, exercise, etc. At the same time, the number of follow-up visits is reduced, saving your precious time.

Cleaning: Oral hygiene is easy to maintain, and there is no need to worry about gingivitis, tooth demineralization, discoloration and other issues.

Convenience: A short and effective course of treatment, usually completed in about 9-12 months.
